Studio Practice 1A – Proposal Test Shot 5

(Contact sheet in Outcome 3, Page 10)

For this series of test shots I decided to turn away from facial features and look into body limbs. I gained this idea from Bill Brandt’s nudes.  I decided to use a plain background for the images unlike Brandt’s who used a pebbled beach to make the work look even more abstract. However I have gained this abstract look within my work regardless. I have chosen 3 images out of the set, which I have converted to black and white. The images look abstract and disguised. It is difficult to tell what they are, and what gender they are.
I picked the 3 images, which I did because I believe them to be the sharpest of the series and also the images, which disguise the gender identity, the best. Also because I found the images represented something else also.  Image 0253 for example reminds me of an elephant and its trunk even though its just 2 legs crossed over and focused on the knee.
I enjoyed this test shoot and I really like my images. I want to portray this abstract look within my final images.
