Techniques and Process 1B – Task 2 – Photoshop Skills – Part 2

For the second part of this task i had to set the white balance using camera. I shot this also under a controlled lighting conditions.

JPG shoot using white and grey card
Camera settings
Cannon EOS 5D
F11
ISO 100
1/125

Process used on camera
auto white balance
took shot using grey card/white card
selected image
pressed ‘SET’
pressed ‘CUSTOM WHITE BALANCE’
‘OK’
Then changed to custom white balance
Took final shot

I also found this process quick and quite efficient. However i found the process you need to use on the camera difficult due to it been a completely different model to what i usually use. Looking over the images i shot, i found the custom white balance i used for the grey card leave a haze over my image which makes it look really flat and cold. However the custom white balance i used for the white card made the image look contemporary and warm.
Due to been unfamiliar with this camera i want to try this technique using my own Nikon D3200. To understand the process and see if the quality between the different makes, and also the different set ups affects the white balance.
