Advanced Techniques and process 2A – No-daylight brief – Proposal development 4

The aim of this shoot was to create 3-5 images which explores a person’s signature by drawing with light and using a speed lights and longer exposures to capture more light.

The aim of this task was achieved. I have created a 3-5 images which capture more light buy exposing the images between 10-20 seconds and using a speed light whilst exposing.
I have captured and developed my brief by having my subject explore their signature further by drawing something important to them/or something that represents them using sparklers.
The longer exposures allowed for more light to be recorded (from the sparkler) and the speed light allowed for the entire scene to be lit up and also froze my subject which added a blur affect to the images which adds intrigue for the audience.
However i struggled with the framing of the image. Shooting in landscape captured too much background detail and shooting in portrait didn’t allow for enough space to draw the signature. Therefore i either need a wider lens or need to find locations without background details.

In order to continue developing my project I will communicate with potential subject matters in order to create a range of signatures. I will also be shooting at different locations and using both portrait and landscape frames to capture more details.
