Advanced Techniques and Process 2A – Proposal Portfolio Images

Aims

To produce a series of images which explore a person’s identity through drawing their signature physically by painting with light. These images could be used for gallery use (public art) magazines (editorial use) or advertising purposes (banks/safety).

This was inspired by the work of Picasso. I wanted to develop his light painting images of his signature in to a series of work whereby other people get to express their identity through art (drawing their signature physically with different light sources – sparklers, glow sticks, LED lights)

However this idea has transformed over the project. I have produced a series of images which explores a person’s identity through expression of their characteristics. Throughout the shoots of this project my inspiration from Picasso has developed also. I moved away from just signatures to the model expressing their whole identity, getting them to draw their expression.

I have struggled throughout this project trying to capture my mental idea. I have used different light sources, locations and ideas. I used Different equipment and techniques however I have finally managed to create a series which I believe express the models identity/characteristics/emotions. Many of these images look similar, this is due to the usage of the same models. Therefore this series of work could be seen as a physical example of the expression of the models.
