The aim of this shoot was to continue the idea of adding a unique representation of the subject within the image, as I’ve already tested capturing expression i wanted to see how photographing the subject with an object that represented their hobbies/interests would impact the image and change the opinion of the viewer.
I photographed the subject on a plain background within their uniform. It’s a straight forward portrait in order to make the audience look directly at the subject and have an opinion on what they see without any distractions. I then added in the props/objects and photographed within the same style. With the images side by side there are two judgements the audiences may have. Judgement of the person – how they look, what there wearing, judging them within the social circle however adding the objects takes what the person is wearing as background noise as it’s then the objects that draw in your attention making you think more about the person instead of just judging them.
I decided to test my kit once more within this shoot using my better quality lens and flash gun – therefore not using a studio set up. I had problems with sharpness/focusing due to my camera quality therefore I used Auto Focus. I photographed by an open window in the morning however the light was dim therefore I used ISO 400 but this left the images looking to soft and with cast over image. I will be using the Cannon 650D to re-shoot this subject so that the quality is stronger and I can begin determining how and what I want to photograph for my project.
Throughout this test shoot I was also testing composition . I was looking at the posture/position of model and I need to turn the model to 45 degrees however I photographed straight on as I was trying not to cast shadow due to home flash.
