The aim of this shoot is to test studio lighting techniques in order to discover the style of lighting I want to photograph my project with. I will be examining the lighting style of portrait photographer Joel Grimes.
I will be experimenting with a beauty dish within this shoot. My aim is to capture head and full body beauty portraits. I will be photographing with the beauty dish at different distances to and from the model as well as to and from the camera. I will also add in and take out reflectors to evaluate the over all difference between all the images.
I am hoping that this experiment will also give me a greater understanding of softer lighting in comparison to harsher lighting upon the model in order to determine which lighting affects I want to use throughout my project.

I met the aims of my shoot. I have photographed using a beauty dish above my camera lens and higher in the air to determine the lighting affects I also added the use of reflectors. I photographed head and shoulder shots and full body shots.
Looking over the images I am not 100% sure which images I added in the reflector. However I prefer the images where the beauty dish is above the camera lens as it adds deeper shadows and gives an overall edginess to the images. From past experience with beauty dishes i prefer lighting higher up and the use of a reflector.
Moving on to the full body shots, i photographed just used the beauty dish however due to the studio cove been dirty with no back light the background was too visible therefore I added two back lights to lighten up the background.
