The aim of this shoot was to continue on from shoot 5, photographing the subjects with self-application of make-up (by me) and also more direction of posing/expression from my instructions and the models behaviour.
From this shoot I have learnt that the pose/expression of the model is just as important as the make-up trend and background colour influence (all these elements link together). It is harder to direct people who are less confident in front of the camera (within different coloured backdrops – see contact sheet – you can see the poses/expression of the subjects becoming more empowered than directed as they became more comfortable within the situation). From this evaluation I have decided to show my next subjects previous shoot examples and pose examples as well as making them feel comfortable and getting them to act things out.
The next step within my project is to continue photographing to the strict structure (make-up trends, hair style, colour backgrounds) through continued collaborations with make-up artists and people with more direction from myself and the subjects in relation to the portrayal of the subject.
Pictures below show the expression/pose development. (Pictured unedited)
